Bethany Hospital Outreach OPD Services, Umsning

On the 9th of August 2014, Dr. John L Sailo Ryntathiang, the Director of Bethany Hospital, Shillong, founded Bethany Hospital Outreach, a super-specialty hospital that boasts over 100 beds. The hospital's inauguration ceremony was graced by Chief Adviser of Meghalaya Government and local MLA, DD Lapang.

The hospital's state-of-the-art facilities include 94 beds in the general ward, 15 beds in a private ward, and a four-bedded ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Additionally, the hospital is equipped with two operation theatres, a computerized X-Ray machine, an ultrasound facility, a clinical-pathological laboratory, provisions for neonatal care, and a 24-hour pharmacy. The hospital provides specialized treatments in medicine, surgery, trauma care, orthopedics, gynecology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and more.

Dr. Sailo's decision to establish the super-specialty hospital was motivated by a tragic incident in 2007, where a woman tending to the hospital's land was struck by complicated cerebral malaria. The incident led him to use his land to benefit others in the district, where people are often forced to travel to Guwahati or Shillong for medical treatment.

Bethany Hospital Outreach is also empanelled with the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS), allowing patients to avail themselves of various facilities under the government scheme. Dr. Sailo expressed hope that the hospital's partnerships with the MHIS and SBI-Insurance Scheme would enable residents of the area to access better medical services.
